Bloodberry aka Butterfly Sage is a native, perennial, evergreen shrub. With clusters of small white blooms followed by bright red berries, it attracts many butterflies, bees and birds. As a smaller shrub, usually not taller than 6 feet, it blends beautifully into a pollinator garden. Bloodberry is salt-tolerant but not for direct salt spray and drought-tolerant.

  • Native, evergreen, perennial shrub, 6’, prunable

  • Full sun to light shade

  • Average to dry, well-drained sandy soils; drought-tolerant, frost-sensitive

  • Can take higher ph levels and some salt content in soil

  • Has irregular growth habit; prune to give shape

  • Blooms and fruits most of the year for birds and pollinators
