Conradina canescens
False Rosemary is an evergreen woody shrub in the mint family native to sand dunes, back dunes, and inland scrub of the west coast of Florida. This low-growing, sprawling plant features aromatic, gray-green needle-like leaves that release a mint fragrance when crushed. From spring through fall, it produces small two-lipped flowers in shades of lavender, white, or purple that attract bees and other pollinators. Extremely drought-tolerant and adapted to sandy soils, it thrives in full sun and is commonly used for dune stabilization, low hedges, and pollinator gardens in coastal landscapes. It is salt-wind tolerant.
