False Rosemary
Conradina canescens
False Rosemary is an evergreen woody shrub in the mint family native to the western Florida panhandle and adjacent coastal areas of Alabama and Mississippi. This low-growing, sprawling plant features aromatic, gray-green needle-like leaves that release a mint fragrance when crushed. From spring through fall, it produces small two-lipped flowers in shades of lavender, white, or purple that attract bees and other pollinators. Extremely drought-tolerant and adapted to sandy soils, it thrives in full sun and is commonly used for dune stabilization, low hedges, and pollinator gardens in coastal landscapes. It is salt-wind tolerant.
