Prunus umbellata

Flatwoods plum is a small, native, deciduous, flowering and fruiting edible wild plum tree that can be grown in sun or under larger trees. It’s beautiful white flowers in the spring attract pollinators and it produces plums in summer that are small tart and edible for both people and birds.

Prunus umbellata

Flatwoods plum is a small, native, deciduous, flowering and fruiting edible wild plum tree that can be grown in sun or under larger trees. It’s beautiful white flowers in the spring attract pollinators and it produces plums in summer that are small tart and edible for both people and birds.

Flatwoods plum is a small, native, deciduous, flowering and fruiting edible wild plum tree that can be grown in sun or under larger trees. It’s beautiful white flowers in the spring attract pollinators and it produces plums in summer that are small tart and edible for both people and birds.

  • Native, deciduous, flowering and fruiting edible wild plum tree

  • Sun to part shade, 12-20 ft, average to dry well-drained soil, not salt-tolerant 

  • Tough, adaptable, multi-trunked small tree, great for small spaces and as understory to large trees

  • Beautiful white flowers in the spring, attracts pollinators, fruits in summer, small tart edible plums

  • Food source for songbirds and wildlife
