Pityopsis gramnifolia
Narrowleaf Silkgrass is a rhizomatous perennial wildflower native to Florida. This tough, evergreen ground cover thrives in full sun and sandy, well-drained soils. Despite what its name suggests, Silkgrass does not produce silk and is not a true grass, but features grass-like, linear leaves covered in distinctive silvery hairs. Its bright yellow, daisy-like flowers bloom from late summer through early winter, and provide an important source of nectar for pollinators such as native bees.
